Vale Inco operates two subsidiary companies in the United States. INMETCO, in Ellwood City, Pennsylvania, is a leading recycler of metal-bearing wastes in North America. Novamet Specialty Products Corporation, based in Wyckoff, New Jersey, is a producer of specialty metal and metal oxide particulates. We also maintain a marketing and sales office in Saddle Brook, New Jersey.
While our operations in Wyckoff and Saddle Brook are small, with limited opportunity for community involvement, INMETCO employs more than 100 people and is an active community partner.
INMETCO began operation in 1978, recycling wastes from stainless steel manufacturers. Today, it has grown to become a leading recycler of metal-bearing wastes in North America, recycling thousands of tons of nickel, chromium, iron, molybdenum and cadmium bearing wastes annually.
To date, INMETCO has diverted more than 1.5 million tons of material from North America’s waste stream.
