Vale Inco invests in communities in three ways:
Charitable Donations
Vale Inco contributes to registered Canadian charitable organizations that are in line with our educational focus.
Charitable Sponsorship
Vale Inco sponsors events and programs in Canada that are in line with our educational focus.
Employee Education Matching Program
Vale Inco will match gifts up to $2,000 by all full-time Canadian employees, pensioners and expatriate employees to eligible universities and colleges.

Funding Criteria
We receive many requests for community support each year and we take great pride in the many community endeavours that we are able to support. Our ability to support projects varies based on alignment with our Community Investment focus on education, the opportunities to make a tangible difference as well as our own annual budget for community giving.
Vale Inco is not able to support the following activities:
- Individuals
- Religious organizations or activities
- Recreational and competitive sport teams
- Individual schools' extra-curricular programs and activities
- For-profit community endeavours
** While Vale Inco’s national community investment focus is education, we recognize each community has unique needs and we support our local sites’ decisions to help fuel other initiatives that may have a greater impact on their immediate community.
Community Investment Standards
 Vale Inco is a member of LBG (London Benchmarking Group) Canada, which provides a standard for the valuation and performance measurement of corporate community involvement. The LBG process includes goal setting, investment analysis and performance measurement. Together with our partners, Vale Inco will develop indicators that will measure our impact on the community. This approach allows us to better demonstrate the value of our work to our stakeholders.
